The mission of the AMRUT Centre of Excellence at MNIT is to empower the sustainable transformation of urban India by developing the capacity of individuals and organizations to address the complex challenges of urban growth, infrastructure development, and environmental sustainability. The Centre aims to bridge the gap between academic theory, policy frameworks, and real-world urban practice by promoting practical approaches that emphasize gender equity, climate resilience, energy efficiency, and inclusive economic growth. It also seeks to establish a collaborative platform for continuous engagement between academia, industry, government, and civil society, fostering innovation and co-creation of solutions that support the development of sustainable, smart, and livable cities across the nation.
Our vision is to establish a pioneering and future-ready centre that serves as a catalyst for sustainable urban development. This centre will act as a hub of innovation, research, and collaboration, committed to addressing the complex challenges of rapid urbanization and environmental sustainability. We envision a dynamic ecosystem where policymakers, urban planners, researchers, industry leaders, and civic stakeholders come together to co-create solutions that are not only technologically advanced but also socially inclusive and environmentally resilient.Ultimately, our goal is to shape urban settlements that support sustainable growth and enhance the quality of life for present and future generations.
